Mulanay Elementary School was founded 1919-1920. It started with wood bamboo and pawid as room for learners. Previous to that, houses of Mr. Donato Tesalona, Edran and and Rosales family served as temporary classroom while the building made of light materials was under construction. The school was pioneered by Mr. Domingo Garcia, Sr., who the first principal-in-charge of the district. This noble was followed by Mr. Andres Flores, and served as principal-in-charge. Among the teachers who smoothed the progress of the school were Mr. Zoilo Garcia, Mrs Trining and the music teacher Garcia Allarey together with Mr. Domingo de Luna, Ex Mayor Mauro Bariata, Mr. Ignacio Ramos of Catanauan, Mrs. Teodora Fuerte, Mrs. Teodora Tesalona, Mr. Ricardo Penaranda of San Francisco, Mr. Casimiro Bariata, Mr. Gregori Yumul of Lopez, Mr. Jose Roces and Miss Guadalupe Telada. Mr. Fortunato Nanadiego was then the municipal president (municipal Mayor) and also help out to make such educational institution possible. After Mr. Garcia and Mr. Flores the fllowing persons served as principal in the district;Mr. Andres Constillano of Lopez, Mr. Origines of Gen. Luna, Mr. Primo Magallanes of Lucena, Mr. Eleuterio Luna, Felimon Bautista Fernando P. Ambas, Efren Lazaro, Herninio Tina. Mrs Erlinda Jader, Carlito C. Sonbise, Manuel F. Fetalco and Dr. Irene Olveda. Mulanay district has been under the following district supervisors/in-charge, to wit: Mr. Rito Delos Santos, Mr. Leovigildo Daza, Mr. Eleuterio Luna and Mr. Bienvenido Nacorda. As of 1984, Ms Perla T. Luna was the distric supervisor followed by Mr. Lazaro Averilla, Francisco, Mr. Manuel F. Fetalco and Mrs. Julieta U. Reyes Historically, Mulanay was under the supervision of San Francisco District and finally split up as independent Districts in 1981. Due to the rapid increase of population, the following schols were opened: Patabog 1945, Pakiing 1962, Malibago 1979, Sta. Rosa 1980, San Pedro 1982, Matataja, Magsaysay and Anunang 1986, Sumagonsong 1987.
